/ VIDEO/ Kings' Darren Collison to miss six weeks after successful core surgery
The Kings announced guard Darren Collison underwent successful surgery on his core Tuesday in Philadelphia.
Collison is expected to miss approximately six additional weeks of game time to recover from the surgery. The 27-year-old guard, who signed with the Kings last summer, is averaging 16.1 points and 5.6 assists per game this season.

The expected recovery time should come as a relief for the struggling Kings. According to a report last month from Yahoo's Marc J. Spears, there were serious doubts Collison would play again this season.
Collison suffered what team officials called a strained right hip flexor Feb. 5 during the second quarter of a home game against the Mavericks. The injury has already caused him to miss the last nine games for the Kings, who have gone 3-6 during that span.
Ray McCallum and Andre Miller are expected to split minutes at point guard for the Kings while Collison is sidelined.
